My Sales-opic Problem
My 23-year corporate sales track record sometimes gets me in trouble.
More than once I’ve been accused of being sales-opic (as in ‘myopic’) when asking: “what will this do for sales?” or “what will sales think of that?” Our marketing clients know what I’m talking about. (even my wife knows—and laments…)
Given my hang-up, several key clients leaned on me, not for marketing help, but for sales advice, strategy and sales tools. As a result, I saw an opportunity to further develop the "E"xecution portion of our signature WAVE strategy process.
My Execution Tool Hunt
Knowing that great execution requires great tools, I began a hunt (I engaged my sales-opic sense). My years of strategy work made one thing clear—if no two strategies are the same, any great sales and marketing tool had to be highly flexible.
